Google+ for Business
Recently, I’ve had business clients request I set up their Google+ profiles. Much to their surprise, and countless questions of “what, what?”, I’ve declined – For the moment. It’s not that I couldn’t do it, rather it’s a matter of timing. For now at least, it’s in the best interests of client to wait.
The gist being that Google is asking businesses to wait before creating Google+ profiles, because they are working on the business experience for this service.
The following is a video update from Christian Oestlien, Product Manager on Google+, which explains the considerations (and Google’s request that business owners wait).
For business owners who are concerned with retaining their brand:
Mr. Oestlien indicated: “…we are discouraging businesses from using regular profiles to connect with Google+ users. Our policy team will actively work with profile owners to shut down non-user profiles…”
Also Google will be working with “…a limited number of businesses to use Google+…” and “…will be using this small experiment to see the effect of including brands in the Google+ experience…” If you’d like to try and become part of this, try using their online Google+ Entity Profile Application
For those who have asked… Once Google+ for business is live (in production), I’ll let you know!
Thanks,
Roger
